LTA CEO Gets $539,747 While Fijians with Minimum Wage of $2.68 make $5574 per year.

A leaked memo in which Attorney General of Fiji, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum in consultation with the Prime Minister authorizes a $539,747 base salary per annum has shocked many Fijians.

While Fijians work at minimum wage rate of $2.68 per hour, Ministry of Economy has sanctioned a 0.53 million dollars pay for a foreign expatriate who was appointed as CEO of Land Transport Authority.

With a package of more than 0.5 million CEO of Land Transport Authority Mr Samuel Charles Simpson also receives a motor vehicle, official mobile phone and performance payment of up to 15% of base salary (bonus pay of $80,962.05) which makes it about $620,709.05 (0.6 million dollars).

Meanwhile with the current minimum wage of $2.68, a Fijian worker makes about $5574 per year.
