The Fiji National University has revised a “all male panel” also called #manel to include women in a conference on information technology.
The university came under fire from women and men alike for having male only panel.
FNU quickly went back into damage control after facing backlash.
Feminist Roshika Deo called out the university for having male only panel and advancing patriarchy.
The Fiji National University later changed the panel and included 2 women speakers for the conference.
The University also said that they are pleased that they applaud Roshika Deo for calling out on their tardiness.
FNU says that they promote equal opportunity and women empowerment and they trust the public to keep them in check if they breach what they preach.
Fiji Twitter have started a hashtag #Manelwatch after Women In Business scheduled a #Manel for discussion on the theme “Think Equal & Be Bold” for celebration of International Women’s Day.
