FRCA Sends Khan on Leave for Causing loss of $4.1 Million

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has sent it Director Intelligence, Compliance and Investigations Shameem Khan on leave after Fiji Independent Commission charged him with “abuse of office” and “general dishonesty.”

It is alleged that Mr Khan prevented Fiji Revenue Customs Service from obtaining revenue of $4,118,994.08 from January 2016 to May 2017.

Ironically, Mr Khan was also the Chief Ethical Standard Unit officer.

It is also alleged that Mr Khan prepared false document on an investigation which led to this loss to occur.

FICAC charged and produced Fiji Revenue Custom Authority’s Shameem Khan in Court on 25th October 2018. However, on 8th October 2018, FRCS said that it would not suspend Mr Khan “pending receipt of further disclosures and/ or evidences from FICAC on the charges brought against Mr Khan.”
