Close to 100 Police Officers Rushed to Help Evacuate Patients

Close to 100 Police officers were deployed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital this afternoon to assist with the evacuation of patients as a fire broke out at the Laundry Section.

The officers consisting of the new recruits members of the Police Special Response Unit, Southern Division personnel and CID were deployed to evacuate patients.

This afternoon around 4PM, the boiler department of CWM, which has been breaking down quite often for sometime now, burst into flames.

Fiji Police Force and National Fire Authority quickly responded to the emergency.

Officers from the National Fire Authority managed to contain the fire from spreading.

Police officers remain at the scene to assist patients and health officials at this hour.
