EFL CEO Hasmukh Patel Should Resign For Misleading Fijians: NFP

The National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says that Energy Fiji Limited CEO Hasmukh Patel is misleading the nation to seek a substantial hike in electricity tariff in a bid to attract buyer for the company and help boost revenue for cash strapped government.

Professor Prasad says that facts don’t lie. This comes after Hasmukh Patel claimed that EFL has lost $100 million as a reduction in tarrifs.

“Because if it were the truth that Mr Patel wants the people of Fiji to believe, then he should do the honourable thing and resign as the company would have made such a huge loss under his leadership despite substantially increasing its revenue,” said Mr Prasad

Mr Prasad says that Energy Fiji Limited has been making profits for years and paying dividend to the government from 2010 to 2018, which Mr Patel has been bragging about in the Annual Reports.

According to the 2018 Annual Report, EFL Made a staggering profit of $63.9 million and even a $20 million dividend to government from it’s 2017 profits.
