Police Rejects Protest March Application

The Acting SSP and Divisional Police Commander Southern Filipe Jitoko rejected the protest march request filed by Fiji Trades Union Congress without providing any reason.

The police force had rejected the earlier protest march request citing police shortages and security issues during 52nd ADB Annual Meeting in Nadi.

The Fiji Roads Authority and the Suva City Council had given approvals for road closure and usage of Sukuna Park respectively.

FTUC in a Facebook post says that this is “human rights violations and Police interference in industrial relations at its worst under this regime.”

The march was scheduled to be on the 10th of this month.
