Grab him by the lapel and push him back whilst swearing at him tells Lenora Qereqeretabua

National Federation Party Parliamentarian, Lenora Qereqeretabua says she “witnessed” the entire scuffle that broke out between the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and NFP MP Pio Tikoduadua.

“Today I witnessed our Prime Minister stride up to my party President Hon Pio Tikoduadua, grab him by the lapel and push him back whilst swearing at him,” says Lenora Qereqeretabua in a Facebook post.

She said while the Prime Minister of Fiji assaulted Mr Tikoduadua, there were multiple witness who were removed by the Prime Minister’s bodyguard instead of trying to stop the “assault.”

“Also there were two of our caucus staff who PM’s bodyguards tried to remove from the scene (but did not stop the assault), two reporters, ministerial drivers and police,” she wrote in the post.

The FijiFirst official media page is saying “Blatant lie by Pio Tikoduadua that PM assaulted him.” after National Federation Party Parliamentarian Pio Tikoduadua accused the Prime Minister of Fiji and Fiji First Party leader Voreqe Bainimarama for threatening and physically assaulting him.

According to Fijivillage, the Prime Minister says that he spoke sternly to Mr Tikoduadua but did not threaten or physically assault him. He says that Mr Tikoduadua squeezed and broke his own spectacles.

Meanwhile, Pio Tikoduadua is at Totogo Police Station where he is expected to lodge a formal complaint to the police regarding alleged assault.

He says that he will be releasing a press statement soon.

How it unfolded:

The Parliament in the last hour heard a point of order from National Federation Party MP Pio Tikoduadua after he accused the Prime Minister of Fiji Voreqe Bainimarama physically assaulted him.

According to NFP candidate, Anshu Lata, NFP MP Pio Tikoduadua who was part of Fiji First Party previously was assaulted by the Prime Minister in front of the government buildings.

Eye witnesses say that they saw Mr Bainimarama physically assaulting Mr Tikoduadua.
