Taiwan Terminates Relation with Solomon Islands

Taiwan has terminated all relations with Solomon Islands after the cabinet voted in favour of switching relations to China.

Solomon Islands is the sixth country Taiwan will lose as a diplomatic ally since Tsai who is seeking re-election came in 2016 — following Burkina Faso, the Dominican Republic, Sao Tome and Principe, Panama and El Salvador.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported that Taiwan’s foreign minister, Joseph Wu, announced the “extremely regrettable” event in the capital city of Taipei.
