Tonga Suspended, Folau’s Return Derailed

Homophobic Israel Folau’s return to rugby league was derailed after Rugby League International Federation board suspended Tonga’s international membership.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter Beattie denies that the decision to suspend Tonga’s membership was due to Israel Folau’s return.

Tonga says Folau will not be considered and many NRL stars like Jason Taumalolo, Andrew Fifita and Siosiua Taukeiaho will boycott the World Nines and upcoming Tests after the daramtic decision from the Rugby League International Federation board.

The international governing body sided with the country’s players and the Paicific Island nation’s government in a bitter dispute on Thursday.

Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia earlier this year for making multiple homophobic social media postings.
